Sony's new movie Morbius, starring Jared Leto, comes out tomorrow, and by nearly all critics' accounts, it's a stinker. The origin story of a lesser Marvel villain and anti-hero sits at an abysmal 15 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, as critics have roasted it for the film's poor action scenes and pacing.

However, according to Google, the film has a respectable 3.7/5 rating from fans, with many showering the film with five-star reviews. Could this be another case of fans enjoying a movie that stuffy critics are too haughty to understand?

Not exactly. Closer inspection of the fan reviews for Morbius reveal that a small meme has developed among internet film enthusiasts. Take, for example, this excerpt from a five-star review by user Lucas Choi:

The movie has little to no flaws whatsoever, and the CGI and visual effects were so spectacular that I creamed in the cinemas. And let's not forget the scene where Morbius and Batman meet. Breathtaking fight scene between the two, but Batman with prep always wins. And then Spider-Man, Superman and Batman having a threesome straight after single-handedly turned me on so much.

It seems Google's community reviewers have been having a bit of fun gassing the movie up with fake plot details and feigned breathless praise in a rare example of anti-review bombing.

It's not entirely clear why this is happening. Perhaps moviegoers are feeling a bit of fatigue at the endless deluge of comic book movies and decided to have a bit of fun. One Redditor theorized it's a bit of backalsh against Sony's attempt to create a cinematic universe around Spider-Man. Whatever the case may be, the reviews are a joy to read, as memers list off increasingly implausible cameos that supposedly appear in the film. For example, here's the review of user Dark Saber:

I almost passed away when it was revealed that Shrek is the main villain because he was angry that everyone was invading his swamp. My absolute favourite part of this film was when the Dracula from hotel Transylvania showed up and helped Morbius defeat Shrek.

And here's another from user Morris O'Neil:

Holy moly scrumptious delicious and phat
Tom Holland as Nathan drake in this move was so unexpected and made it so special
And then Tom Holland as Peter Parker shows up and I’m like “poggers my friends”

Many will likely hold off on seeing Morbius if the actual reviews of the film are to be believed, but though it comes out tomorrow, we can safely assume that it does not include a cameo from Shrek (unfortunately) despite what the reviews say.

This article makes it look like this movie is made by marvel studios for some reason, i thought everyone knew sony made movies are not marvel studios'? Then again they're not really trying to make it clear, but then again again the sony movies don't reference the avengers every 5 minutes. Also, they suck big dick, as in they're actually bad movies, and it has nothing to do with them being "capeshit", they're just bad.
