Dr Disrespect with Twitch's response to a question about the ban.

In June last year, Dr Disrespect, one of the biggest streamers on the platform at the time, was suddenly banned from Twitch for reasons that are still unknown to the public. Since then, both Doc himself and Twitch have been extremely tight-lipped about anything related to the controversial decision.

Now, just a few days after news broke that Dr Disrespect was barred from a Call of Duty tournament in the upcoming Toronto Ultra competition likely due to last year’s ban, Twitch finally responded to a question about their decision to remove him … well, sort of.

During the recent broadcast of Twitch’s Creator Camp who was holding its 2020 Transparency Report breakdown with Twitch’s Head of Creator Development (djWheat) and Global VP of Trust and Safety (Angela Hession), the company curiously responded to a viewer’s inquiry when they asked in the livestream’s chat “Any Dr Disrespect news??”

Instead of simply ignoring the question, the CreatorCamp Twitch account took the opportunity to finally reply but merely said “No” and left it at that. Believe it or not, this is the company’s closest thing to a true response on the controversial ban we’ve seen so far aside from their statement released last summer.

Doc himself has said in the past that he has “no idea” why he was banned and has only briefly speculated on the possible reasons, moving on to continue his streaming career elsewhere online. Since last summer, Doc has continued operating on YouTube but it seems now that the Twitch ban may have some other troubling problems for his career anytime they’re involved in events, such as the Toronto Ultra tournament that started on Monday.

With over eight months now passed since the Twitch ban, it seems like the company is still not ready to talk about it to any degree, so perhaps we’ll never know for sure.
