TikToker Sabrina Prater Speaks Out After False Accusations Of Being A Serial Killer Appear Online

TikToker Sabrina Prater, or sabrinaprater625, has spoken up in defense of themselves after facing numerous accusations of being a serial killer for their eerie videos dancing in a dilapidated home.

Prater posted an emotional, now-deleted video to their TikTok page two days ago distraught about being wrongly reported for sexual content during a livestream and for being harassed in general. Through the video they repeatedly say they did "nothing wrong" and beg for viewers to stand up for them, saying, "I’m sick of being hurt by this. I’m just like anybody else. I want to be loved and accepted. I’m getting treated worse than anybody else coming out like me." While their gender identity is not clear, Prater's TikTok bio reads: "I'm a 34 yr old male been dressing up since I was lil! working on coming out."

Prater, a construction worker with over 370,000 followers at the time of writing, started posting to TikTok in July and has had multiple hit videos since. The videos largely consist of Prater dancing in a rundown home over viral audios while wearing women's clothing and heavy makeup. Prater tends to post daily, sometimes posting multiple times in a day.

As Prater gained followers, TikTokers began to tease them about their appearance, often likening them to Buffalo Bill, the serial killer from The Silence Of The Lambs. Over time, the teasing turned into accusations about Prater being a serial killer as viewers scoured the background of the videos for clues. Two computer monitors in the background of some videos showing what appears to be security cameras with images of kids on them served as the driving force for these rumors. The continued presence of two dogs also raised concerns as people assumed they were being abused, considering the living conditions.

The harassment of Prater went on for days, but not everyone believed the rumors. In the last few days, people began posting videos debunking the rumors, revealing Prater to be a construction worker in Michigan who bought the home to fix it up. The alleged security cameras are likely to keep people from breaking in. Prater has a home other than the dilapidated one shown, as well as a number of children.

Prater's response video and the numerous debunking videos inspired apologies from TikTokers across the app, including Noah Glenn Carter, a TikToker with over 3 million followers that describes TikTok and meme trends who made six videos about the Prater situation before the rumors were debunked. The hashtag "#standup4sabrina" has also become popularized on the app as TikTokers post videos showing support for Prater and denouncing the rumors and hate towards the dancer.
