Over A Decade Later, Faith Hilling Remains A Powerful South Park Reference
It happens like clockwork. Almost every time there's a major world event, there's someone online saying that The Simpsons predicted it. But occasionally, this is much less fun than it sounds. This is one of those times.
Numerous people have been sharing an illustration done by artist Yuri Pomo, who regularly posts Simpsons-style artworks on their page, as if it were a scene from the show. Unfortunately, the work in question features Chief Wiggum kneeling on the neck of George Floyd as Lisa Simpson holds a sign that reads "Justice for George" behind them. Yeah, that did not happen on the Simpsons.
"Normally you’re used to see colorful and cheerful drawings from me," wrote Pomo in his Instagram post. "But since I’ve got quite a good audience, I’d like to use it as much as I can in the right way when the situation requires it, and bring something good, and useful with my drawings, and you guys know it."
"With this piece, I’d like you to think deeply, taking the chance to bring The Simpsons as an example for the cause. The Simpsons has always been everyone’s childhood, so the message will be clear and strong enough i suppose."
This isn't the only Simpsons-related image from the recent past that's being credited with predicting the future. Twitter user @erodarcy shared clips from a series of Simpsons episodes, including The Simpsons Movie, season 11's "Hello Gutter, Hello Fadder," viral clip made by the Simpsons shortly after Trump's inauguration and just some good, old-fashioned fanart, presenting them with predicting the future.

The Simpsons predicts the future meme has risen in popularity over the last few years. This year saw a series of viral coincidental clips, including one featuring a pandemic, protests and a box of killer bees that was a little too close to reality for comfort.
