Twitch streamer pokimane and the fire nation attacked tweet.

Prominent Twitch streamer Pokimane is back online after a 48-hour ban from the site she calls home. While no official reason was given for her ban, it appears she received it for streaming and commenting on Avatar: The Last Airbender episodes for her audience.

Many prominent streamers have been flirting with DMCA takedowns in a recent trend known as the "TV meta," which features streamers watching and commenting on whole episodes of television. xQc and Hasan Piker have recently attracted viewers by streaming MasterChef, and while they have thus far avoided getting whacked by the DMCA, streaming Avatar: The Last Airbender was evidently a bridge too far for the show's publishing owners, ViacomCBS, who are thought to have issued the takedown notice that resulted in Pokimane's ban.

"The fire nation attacked," Pokimane joked on Twitter after receiving the ban. She also admitted she knew something like this would happen eventually considering the brazen flirtation with copyright laws in Twitch's current "react meta," and promised a stream reacting to the situation.

Now that one of Twitch's biggest streamers has faced consequences for participating in the "react meta," it will be interesting to see if other streamers drop the trend or wait to see if the banhammer falls on them.
