The pilot and co-pilot of a plane hired to participate in an elaborate gender reveal died Monday after the plane crashed into the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Cancun.

The plane was intended to fly a banner that told party attendees the expectant parents were having a baby girl. Video of the incident posted by TMZ shows the plane doing several stunts before nosediving into the sea. One pilot was killed on impact while another died during the rescue operation. Authorities have not revealed the names of the deceased and are investigating the cause of the crash.

The tragedy is yet another disaster tied to gender reveals. Last year, a pyrotechnic device exploded at a gender reveal party in California, leading to a wildfire that covered thousands of acres. Earlier this year, a father-to-be died while working on an explosive that would reveal the gender of his baby, and another man in Michigan was killed by a gender reveal cannon.

Twitter users were once again stunned that a gender reveal celebration resulted in more deaths and compared the death count of gender reveals to other hot political issues that seem to attract government attention.
