Nintendo has been taking Mario for a victory lap in recent years, so with the most famous mascot in video game history's 35th anniversary, you know they had to have something big up their sleeve. According to a recent rumor reported by Eurogamer and VGC, that "something" might be pretty freakin' huge.

According to reports, most of the Super Mario back catalog will be remastered and coming to the Switch. That includes Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and both Super Mario Galaxy games. Super Mario 3D World may also be getting a "deluxe" release with new levels, and a new Paper Mario game could be in the cards.

It is also speculated that Nintendo has partnered with Universal to create both a "Super Nintendo World" theme park and an animated Mario movie.

The announcement was reportedly planned to go down at E3 this year, but obviously the Coronavirus made that impossible and E3 was canceled this year.

Nintendo, naturally, has not confirmed any of this, only saying it "does not comment on rumor and speculation." But after three-plus weeks of quarantine, confirmation of a swath of new and remastered Super Mario games would really hit the spot.
