Christmas is coming early for the 12 or so people that own Oculus Quest headsets. The fantasy gaming classic Myst is coming to the virtual reality console on December 10th, 2020.

The release, announced by Facebook yesterday, will be a remake of the original game, including all of the puzzles and locations from 1993, in their proprietary virtual reality.

"Cyan, the indie studio that created the beloved classic, has reimagined Myst — built from the ground up for VR and available soon to play on Oculus Quest," the Oculus website states. "With new art, sound, interactions, and even optional puzzle randomization — the highly anticipated Myst VR experience has finally arrived."

Oculus announced the game at the beginning of the year. The company said the game would be "built from the ground up for VR." Developers also included a puzzle randomizer "for those who long ago memorized the island’s secrets and are looking for a fresh take on their Myst experience from 1993."

In the announcement from September, Oculus also promised a Jurassic World game, a Star Wars game, a new Medal of Honor and Warhammer 40,000 Battle Sister. The company also gave brief details about a partnership with Ubisoft, naming Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell as upcoming releases.

In May, TechCrunch reported that Ocusuls surpass more than $100 million in content sales, so it seems as though people are playing these games. So it looks like investing in games people want to play is paying off. We'll see if a little nostalgia can sweeten the deal for people holding out on the console.
