According to new revelations, the Secret Service reportedly deleted texts from January 5th and 6th, and so cannot provide the evidence requested by the January 6th Committee..

The agency says the texts were deleted as a part of a “device replacement” program in which agents received new phones and had the data on their old ones wiped. This “device replacement” program began shortly after the committee asked for the texts.

According to January 6th Committee Chair Bennie Thompson, the Secret Service has not been clear enough about how exactly the texts were deleted and who gave the order for that to happen. The Committee says it will attempt to reconstruct the texts in order to have a record of how the Secret Service reacted and behaved during the insurrection.

Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony shone a spotlight on Secret Service agents, describing how the President reportedly tried to choke one and how Vice President Pence did not trust the Secret Service, believing them to be too loyal to Trump.

Many commentators thought the Secret Service deleted the texts on purpose. Following Joe Biden’s inauguration, the Secret Service underwent a staff shake-up, reportedly because some high-ranking members were too involved with the previous President and made no secret of their support for him.

A number of people made memes joking about the deleted texts.

The news also reminded many of an incident early in Biden’s administration when his dog Major was “rehomed” because of bad behavior. Major reportedly had a problem with biting Secret Service agents.

Some online speculated that Major must have known there were members of the Secret Service covering up evidence about January 6th and might've been a threat to his master, President Biden.

A number of left-leaning dog-lovers and posters spoke out to defend Major Biden, saying this latest news vindicated the Presidential pooch.

It may be too late for Major Biden to come back to the White House, but the January 6th Committee has plenty of time to make its case.
