Holistic healing author Jordan Younger saw a video from her modest TikTok channel rack up over a million views on Twitter thanks to her stated belief that Lyme disease, a debilitating illness that can affect the heart and the central nervous system, is good, actually.
More specifically, she said "Lyme disease is a gift. It's not for the faint of heart. It's for the most deeply spiritual people on the planet."

Younger, who operates as the brand "The Balanced Blonde," was discussing Lyme disease on her podcast Soul On Fire with "Spiritual Teacher" and "Intuitive Astrologer" Danielle Paige, who kicks off the clip by stating she worked with a "medical intuitive" who told her that Lyme is an "intergalactic substance" that is "bringing in codes from the beginning of time."
"Yes! I believe this!" Younger replied. "This gives me chills down my entire body!" Some responders on Twitter pointed out that "chills down your entire body" is in fact a symptom of Lyme disease, though this is likely not what Younger was referring to.
She should probably get those chills down her entire body checked out.

The doctor who tweeted Younger's TikTok, Ryan Marino, explained in a subsequent tweet that Lyme disease is a disease caused by earthly (not intergalactic) bacteria while Twitter users reeled from the wildness of the viral video.
Since it has to be said? Lyme is the disease caused by infection with the (earthly) bacteria, Borrelia burgdorferi. It is not a gift and it is a major problem in the US that may be worsening due to climate change. It is treated with antibiotics not “a medical intuitive.” Pls.

Younger rose to fame in the early 2010s as blogger "The Blonde Vegan," but broke from the diet after claiming it made her unwell. In a book, she claimed she suffered from orthorexia, a controversial eating disorder not recognized by the American Psychiatric Association, which posits that one can develop a fixation on eating organic, unprocessed foods to the point of physical unhealthiness.
