Ever since Minecraft's release in 2010, gamers have wondered which humanity would reach first — the limit of the knowable universe or the limit of Minecraft.
Alright, maybe that wasn't the question at the top of gamers' minds, but it has nevertheless been answered at long last after a Twitch streamer by the name of Mystical Midget completed an 18-month trek to the end of Minecraft, which purportedly took him over 2,500 hours to accomplish.
Twitch streamer Mystical Midget has done something nobody has ever done before
He walked 32 million blocks in Minecraft til the very end of the game, it took him 2,500 hours to complete… here's what happened pic.twitter.com/KIfIIelgN9— Jake Lucky (@JakeSucky) August 23, 2022
Mystical Midget began his quest on January 31st, 2021, and since then, he's walked more than 32 million blocks until the game ultimately stopped generating new land for him to walk on. After the game stuttered for a moment, it essentially gave up and dropped Mystical Midget into an endless void as his friends cheered him on.
The feat is not possible on the current version of Minecraft, as patch 1.8 put up a barrier wall at the Far Lands (which takes 12.5 million blocks to reach). Mystical Midget, however, was playing on patch 1.7.3, according to Twitter user @JakeSucky.
Now that he's become the first person to reach the end of Minecraft, Mystical Midget apparently intends to continue walking through the game Ferdinand Magellan-style until he's explored every single inch of it.
