Dream stans are venting their rage at Pewdiepie stans right now after the mega-popular YouTuber suggested that he should have just confessed to cheating during his Minecraft speedruns in the first place.

Back in May, Dream admitted to cheating at a number of official Minecraft speedruns. In the months prior, he had gone to great lengths to prove himself innocent after people began accusing him of getting suspiciously lucky during the runs. This included hiring a Harvard astrophysicist to crunch the numbers and prove that statistically, it was possible for Dream to get that lucky. His calculations were highly debated for their accuracy before Dream finally admitted to cheating, ultimately framing it all as an accident.

On July 15th, Pewdiepie dropped a new video titled "Top 10 Streamers Caught Cheating," in which he reacts to and discusses a number of clips showing streamers cheating at video games. Although the video features an image of Dream in the thumbnail, Pewdiepie does not show clips from Dream's speedruns, and only talks about Dream at the end of the video as an addition. In the video, Pewdiepie describes how Dream refused to admit to cheating at first as his fans argued and defended him online.

"I just find it interesting how after so long, Dream admitted to cheating and that he had a mod that was giving him more favorable drop rates in the game when he could have just admitted that right away, and be like 'Oh, I realized I had that. My bad.' And this whole thing could have been avoided."

Pewdiepie then said that Dream's cheating was not as bad as any of the other cheaters he reacted to in the video.

The statement, along with Pewdiepie's usage of Dream's image in the thumbnail, was apparently seen as an attempt at "clout chasing" and trying to ring up old controversies to smear Dream by his biggest stans, who took to Twitter to call out the 100-million-subscriber-plus YouTuber. Those calls were quickly drowned out by posts defending Pewdiepie and calling the claims of clout chasing ridiculous, seeing as Pewdiepie has over 100 million subscribers, as opposed to Dream's still impressive 24 million.

Dream responded to the controversy later that day on Twitter, joking about how he used to use Pewdiepie's image in his thumbnails for clout. He also assured everyone that there are no hard feelings between him and Pewdiepie, leaving the whole situation as nothing more than a good clout move for both parties.
