Donald Trump, clearly determined to regain the rush of having a Twitter account after the site banned him for spreading election information ahead of the January 6th Storming of the Capitol, has released his own Twitter alternative for conservatives, dubbed "Truth Social." Within hours, the @donaldjtrump account tweeted a picture of Pig Poop Balls. The site was then closed for security purposes.

The former president's new company, Trump Media and Technology Group, heralded Truth Social as the first foray into a conservative media empire that would someday rival Disney, Facebook, etc., but, as with other supposed conservative alternatives to popular social networks, it was easily overrun by trolls in the early hours of its launch.

The site, which replaces tweets with "Truths" and retweets with "Re-Truths," has several quirks which seem particularly un-Trumpian. For example its terms of service state it will ban the "excessive use of capital letters," which is very much what Trump was known for during his time on Twitter. However, you can be banned for attempting to "disparage, tarnish, or otherwise harm" Truth Social in the opinion of its moderators (for example, saying "Truth Social sucks, where's our edit button?" could be a bannable offense).

Truth Social seems to be yet another attempt from Trump to return to the online space. Earlier this year, he posted on a blog called From the Desk of Donald Trump, though it was discontinued less than a month after launch after it pulled in scrawny traffic numbers.

I bet 5 internets that it either doesn't even get approved or it gets removed the day it launches

Also. Twitter is the problem. Stop trying to make a "right wing Twitter." We don't need more Twitters, we need less.
